Join us at Potluck for the opening reception of Take Five, a solo exhibition by Baltimore artist Sanzi Kermes.
The exhibition brings together two bodies of work that span time, place, and artistic practice. The larger watercolors were created following a residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida, and later inspired by the view from Sanzi's studio in Baltimore's historic Fox Industry building. Architecture, plant life, and the quiet act of looking are central to these paintings.
More recently, Sanzi returned to some of these earlier works, cutting them into 5″ × 5″ pieces and transforming them into the starting point for something new. The resulting series incorporates a simple meditation practice: taking a seat for five minutes and creating a new space to gaze into, using ink, paint, and watercolor crayons.
Take Five invites us to slow down, look closely, and find something new in the familiar. It's an exploration of how art evolves, how we see, and what can emerge when we make a little space for contemplation.
Come meet the artist, spend time with the work, and enjoy an evening of art and community at Potluck.
